About Us
Patrons of the Centre is a nonprofit group organized to support the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts. The purpose of the organization is to broaden the cultural and artistic opportunities for Coweta County students and the surrounding community. Its mission is “to sustain the vision of artistic excellence in our community.” The Patrons of the Centre was formally organized in 2008 as a result of a grassroots effort to purchase a major work of art for the Centre’s permanent collection in appreciation of Don Nixon, Director of the Centre. The response was overwhelming and the group was formalized to sustain the public’s interest, enthusiasm, and commitment to the arts through the Centre.
The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County is a 48,000 square foot facility located in Newnan, Georgia. It includes a state of the art 1,000 seat performance hall, an elegant lobby, the Francoise Gilot Gallery, lecture halls, and modern dressing rooms. The facility, which opened on April 5, 2003, was constructed by a special local option sales tax grant and is owned and operated by the Coweta County School System.
Patrons of the Centre is governed by a Board of Directors selected from its membership.
